A Word From Our ChairmanIt has been an exciting and demanding time for the CTP since the end of last year. There has been a lot of progress on the education front: the Therapeutic Counselling Course is now running successfully and is likely to be repeated next year; there has been interest in running a new Professional Preparation Course, PP4, next year and Rupert Tower has developed, and is running, an exciting new studies programme, which evidences the life and direction for CTP. Details of these programmes will be trailed in this bulletin and (where finalised) can be found on our web site: The Executive Group has managed our finances excellently to help support these activities. This is due to Paul Dunne's leadership of the Executive Group and their prudence and commitment, for which the council feels extremely grateful. We have also been building on the links that came out of the Eurotas/CTP conference last August, both with John Moores Liverpool University and the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, in Palo Alto. Jan Mojsa has just returned from a visit to ITP to develop our initial contact further. More about our visit in the next bulletin. As I write on this beautiful spring morning my office is filled with sunlight. In many ways this reflects my hope for the forthcoming year in CTP. Jason Wright
Update From The Executive CommitteeCTP Goes Virtual The centre does not have a physical office any more. Instead, a network of people now use home-working and electronic communications to maintain our relationship with UKCP, manage the accreditation process, run the Counselling Course and the Studies Programme, and prepare for the 2005 Diploma Course. We will continue to rely on e-mail and the Internet to communicate with students, members and other interested parties. We feel it is important that we make the most of these technological developments to keep our costs, and hence our membership fees, at a reasonable level. We hope that you are happy to accept e-mails for the majority of future communications, but if not please let us know. You will appreciate that communicating manually costs both extra time and money. Those who do not have an Internet connection will, of course, still receive bulletins etc. via the post. Virtual working aside, the postal address and training venue continues to be: Centre for Transpersonal Psychology New Ways Of Learning In future we would like to make even greater use of new technology as CTP grows. As Jason mentioned in this bulletin, we have been forging links with JMLU and IPT. These institutions offer on-line modules and courses, access to which we hope to make available to CTP students, as part of our courses, and to members for CPD, as part of our Studies Programme. New Phone Number We will shortly be announcing a new 0870 telephone number, which means we will not have to change our telephone number again for a very long time, if ever. Accreditation and CPD Five new applications for UKCP accreditation, three student and two Independent Route applicants are currently with the readers and will go before the next Accreditation Board in June. For those considering UKCP Accreditation in the future, John Rowan’s Research Methods workshop in June introduces the topic into CTP’s Studies Programme for the first time . This will also be relevant for CPD for accredited members and practising psychotherapists. UPCOMING STUDIES PROGRAMME WORKSHOPSJune 11th – 12th: Heart, the Shadow, & Transpersonal Psychotherapy.
Serge Beddington-Behrens July 2nd – 3rd: An Introduction to Authentic Movement. Linda Hartley Full details of these workshops are on the website. Paul Dunne Feedback and Additional Content For The BulletinWe are keen that this bulletin becomes a regular forum for sharing between members and friends. If you have any poems, prose, books that you feel transpersonalists should be aware of, or if you just fancy a rant, please send your pearls of wisdom to jeremy.brooks@ntlworld.com and I will include it in future editions. We would also like to hear your thoughts concerning the bulletin, and any suggestions you may have for improving it! Jeremy Brooks
